Teaching

Here at Faith we hold the Bible to be the true and inspired Word of God. In this regard, we give the teaching of God's Word the highest honor in all we do, especially in worship.

Our Latest Teaching Series: The Book of Acts

The church as we know it has been around for many years. It has changed appearance and style as the culture around us is always shifting, but one thing remains at the center – JESUS. The person and work of Jesus Christ is a constant and should be visible in all elements of His church.

Over the next year or so, we are going to dive into the days of the early church. We are going to look through the lens of Luke's second book, Acts, and see how the early church regenerated itself around the person and work of Jesus.

As we look at how to do 'church' in the 21st century, we are going to go back to our ROOTS to explore how these men and women in the book of Acts, together with the Holy Spirit, changed the world forever.

Teaching Series for Summer 2011: Go ahead. Ask.

Often times in the New Testament, we see Paul answering the questions of people in the various churches that he taught.

This summer, we are doing a new teaching series at Faith called, 'go ahead. ask.' Over the next number of weeks, YOU will have the opportunity to shape the course of this series. It's simple, just type in the box below, any question that pertains to Jesus, the Church, Christianity, life, etc. Obviously we will not be able to answer everything that gets submitted, but when all the questions are in, we will select the top 10 and start teaching on the topics Sunday, June 26.

Teaching Series for April/May 2011: Making Disciples.

During Jesus' time here on earth, He promised His disciples that He would 'build His church.' Then He died, was buried, and rose again from the dead. Upon His ascension to heaven He commanded this church to:
Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
Mt 28: 19-20

And they did. This group of rag tag disciples who only months before were hiding in the upper room after Jesus died began a revolution that we know today as the church. How did they do this?

1. With the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2)
2. By making disciples of all nations and teaching them to observe what Jesus had commanded (love God and love others).

During this series we are going to unpack this whole idea of what it means to be a church that truly makes disciples and how this happens. We are going to look at 6 topics including:
- Doctrine
- Church
- Worship
- Daily Spiritual Growth
- Stewardship
- Missional Contextualization

This is going to be an opportunity for those who are new to connect with Jesus and with His church here in Exeter, as well as an opportunity for those who are already members to recommit themselves to Jesus and this place we call Faith.

We are hoping that over these next 6 weeks, all who call Faith their home will be able to understand and articulate what it is that this church is all about so that we can together assist Jesus in building His church by making disciples through loving God and loving others.
