The church will never be “big enough” until all have heard the message of God’s love and the free offer of forgiveness through faith in Christ. One of our purposes in life is to reach those around us as well as those far from us. Part of this boils down to our personal lives, living the “Christian life” and actively looking for opportunities to influence those we come in contact with. In addition, there are a number of formal programs and opportunities to get involved in missions and outreach here at FLC.

Here are just a few:

Hearts & Hands
Reaching people with hammers, nails, and paintbrushes! This great ministry continues to grow. The group’s first effort was a massive undertaking…sending a team of 40 to Biloxi, Mississippi to help with hurricane relief. After another trip down South, Hearts & Hands is now branching out into the local area, working on projects in the greater Seacoast. If you’re handy and think this may be an area where you’d like to get involved, contact Deb Finegan.

Vacation Bible School
VBS takes place every year during the first full week of August. It’s five days of fun, crafts, games, songs – and it’s all free. The kids get so much out of it….but so do our volunteers. They’ll tell you what a special week it is – and there are multiple opportunities if you’d like to participate. You can teach, help with music, assist with cleaning, administration, promotion, and more!

Operation Christmas Child
Provide support through Christmas gifts for children in global mission areas.

Compassion International Sponsorship
Our Sunday School sponsors a child through this program. There are additional opportunities for you or you and your family to sponsor a child.

Exeter Christmas Parade
Every year we build a float and participate in the parade. It’s a great opportunity for outreach within the community!

Family Festival
This wonderful event, founded in 2007, is a chance annually for us to get out into the community, meet our neighbors, and give them a taste of what Vacation Bible School is all about. This year we were pleased to host 255 moms, dads, and kids at the Talbot Gym in Exeter. They were treated to an afternoon of games, crafts, face painting, a magician, a bouncy castle, balloon sculptures, yummy treats like popcorn and cotton candy, and live music by our very own FLC Praise Band. This is an outreach activity that absolutely depends on volunteers to make it happen! There are ample opportunities for you to be a part of it!

Together in Mission
Our congregation supports a missionary family both financially and with our continued prayers. Our TIM mission family is serving God in Southeast Asia, and it has been a privilege to get to know them. Updates are posted regularly on the kiosk in the rear of the church. Get involved by keeping up with the latest events in their lives, and keep them in your prayers.

Seminary Support
One time or ongoing support for students preparing for ordained ministry.

Bottom line? There are so many ways to get involved, you’re sure to find something that matches your interests and talents!
