Faith Lutheran Church – a place for friendship
Visitors, friends and members alike are welcome here. By “friends,” we mean regular attendees of Faith who choose to worship and participate here. People are welcome to remain “friends” of the church indefinitely. They will be encouraged but never forced to consider membership as their faith grows.
What does it mean to be a member of Faith Lutheran Church?
Membership in Faith is two-way. After acknowledging the foundational beliefs of the Christian Faith, an individual pledges to support the work of the church in worship, prayer, and with their time and other gifts God has given them. At the same time, the church has the responsibility to help the individual grow in relationship with God and others.
Why join?
We are all saved by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, membership in a church is not a “salvation issue.” However, local congregations of believers are Scriptural; Paul’s letters were written to congregations. There is significant Biblical support emphasizing the importance of gathering and being in relationship with other believers. God’s church of Christians worldwide is implemented through local congregations of believers.
How do I become a member?
If you’re new to the church and to Christianity, we offer classes in our foundational beliefs periodically throughout the year. Orientation to Faith reviews the major teachings of the Christian Faith, and is also an excellent opportunity for “established” believers to take a refresher course.
If you’re transferring from another Missouri Synod congregation, arrange to have your previous congregation forward a letter of transfer to our office.
What is the organizational structure of Faith Lutheran Church?
Members of FLC make the major decisions of the church. Members decide annually on the church budget and approve any major building work or major new ministries. Members call a new Pastor in the event of a vacancy. Members also elect the Parish Planning Council (PPC), which is essentially responsible for carrying out the direction provided by the congregation. Members of the PPC are the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director, the Treasurer, the Financial Secretary, the Pastor, and the four Directors of the Ministry Boards (Inreach, Outreach, Lay Ministry, and Properties).
